Oreo Cheesecake!🍰

Image
I wanted to make a dessert for M because he was in town for his birthday. My microwave-oven is still out of order and I have no intentions of getting it fixed. Hence I have been preparing a varied set of ‘no bake’ desserts. The first in this attempt was a Cheesecake. I was skeptical about the taste and its fluffiness. As I had never made a ‘no bake’ version, I was really worried about the end result. IMHO it was just  okay.  M on the other hand was very impressed with it. Without further ado for all those looking to indulge in some easy to make desserts here is what you need to make this Cheesecake! Ingredients: 30 Oreo biscuits without the icing Cream Cheese – 180g Set curd – 450g Gelatin powder -10g Powdered Sugar – 100g Melted Butter – 50g Method: 1. Take 20 Oreo biscuits and remove icing. Crush the biscuits and once powdered add butter to it and mix it well. 2. Line butter paper in a serving dish and spread the Oreo mixture to form the crust of the cake. Make sure you pres...

Sacred Games: The answer to your existential crisis

Image
Given all the hype around Sacred Games it was but natural that I’d end up watching it. I haven’t read the book hence I am not comparing the show to the book. My primary reason for watching this show was Anurag Kashyap and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. I have loved their combo since 2012 when I watched Gangs of Wasseypur. I am a tad bit ashamed to mention that the language used in both Sacred Games and GoW helps me vicariously channel my extensive vocabulary in cussing. I liked how the story began. This isn’t a slow narrative, you basically have to run with the characters to catch up with their mind and emotions and sometimes have to see between the frames. I live on the extreme ends of storytelling arch. I love the slow narrative where each and everything is described in such a manner that you feel you are in that situation and you start feeling what the character feels and then there is the impromptu situation where you are unexpectedly put in and you have to start catching up with why the cha...

Chinti Manus and Hadda baai

Image
Image courtesy Wikipedia In the Marvel Comic Universe the superheroes lose their temper, doubt themselves, are funny, moody and sometimes ‘in your face’. That’s exactly how the human race is. I like how Marvel universe has always portrayed its characters to be more than do-gooders. They have given into temptation, they’ve had difference of opinions and yet at the end of the day they get back together. I have found adulthood to be exactly that. As adults we have our own opinions and we don’t have to agree with each other but that doesn’t mean we still can’t be friends and civil with each other. MCU gives adults a fair share of life lessons while the kids enjoy the CGI and stunts. Every time I watch an MCU movie I go home feeling satisfied because then I am not questioning myself and wondering if I am really a nice person. Yesterday I watched Ant Man and The Wasp with my friends. We loved it! In 2015 we were left with Captain America and Falcon talking with Falcon telling Cap that he “kn...

Soya Chunk Manchurian!🍲

Image
My aunt is an enthusiastic follower of our blog and is constantly suggesting new recipes for me to try. She actually waits for me to make them and after I share my excitement of the dish being a success, she tries it out as well. My parents are my critics and they are both enjoying the multitude of dishes that are being prepared every week. Here is another piece from my “experimental” cooking saga! Ingredients: 1/2 cup of soya chunks 1 medium capsicum 1 medium onion ½ inch ginger finely chopped 6-7 garlic cloves 2 Tbsp cornstarch 1 ½ Tbsp green chili sauce 1 ½ Tbsp soya sauce (dark) 1 ½ Tbsp tomato sauce 2 Tbsp Chings hot sauce 1 Tbsp oil 1 cup water Salt Method: 1. Soak soya chunks in hot water for 10 minutes then drain and squeeze the water out of the chunks and set aside. 2. Dice the onions and capsicum and set aside. 3. In a pan heat oil and add ginger, garlic and saute on  medium flame,  till they turn slightly brown. 4. Now add onions and saute till they are a translucen...

(Lack)Lust(er) Stories

Image
Image courtesy Wikipedia. I like AIB and when they came up with the   - ‘ The Truth about lust’ video I knew that I’d end up watching Lust Stories and here we are with the review. There goes one more thing in my bag of bad choices🤦. No, no read on. I promise to be funny. Before I proceed further please know that there will be spoilers😈. I hate Karan Johar and I would also recommend that you never rely on KJo for personal hygiene tips😐. Having said that let’s begin! The first story is directed by Anurag Kashyap and it features Radhika Apte and Akash Thosar of the Sairat (OG) fame. I like both these actors and as the story unfolded I couldn’t help but think that Anurag Kashyap may have found inspiration for this story from his own life. The story is as complex as the male gender makes out women to be and just as simple as men would like to presume they are. Irrespective of the nature of relationship, the moment you find yourself drawn to another person and begin a relat...

Nelf Horror Show! 👻

Image
First of all this review was not planned and I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to write one about it. Anyhow, here I am writing this post about a compact gone pastry. Pastry sounds nicer than cakey. I was using Maybelline’s compact and that worked fine for me and also lasted me a really long time. I could see the base of my compact box showing and that’s why I was hoping we’d get a compact in our April GlamEgo box .We did. Here’s the thing though, at whatever point of time irrespective of how many times you’ve used a product it is always better to test it every time . I didn’t test the Nelf compact because the Nelf primer we got in February Glamego box was so amazing I really didn’t see why their compact wouldn’t be just as good and used it on my face on a pretty important day! I had applied it on my face at 11-ish in the morning and as the day progressed the compact just started doing what it ought not to. You’ve all read our post on, “ What’s in my hand bag ?”right? People who know me p...

Walking Away From Temptation - Part Deux

Image
We’ve hit the halfway mark in 2018 and with that we bring you five chocolates/candy that we’ve tried in these past 6 months. I mentioned candy as I tend to eat a lot of those as well. We had previously written about a chocolate round up from 2017 - Walking away from temptation Part 1. You can check that post after you read this as the chocolates listed here are mostly desi or are available on Amazon Pantry. After Eight: After Eight mint chocolate thins by Nestle have been a favorite at our home as we are very partial to slivers of chocolate with a filling in them. I especially like the combination of chocolate and mint and mint choco chip is one of my favorite ice cream flavors. These little bite sized squares are just the right size to savor after a meal. Fuse: When I first heard of Fuse by Cadbury, I thought it was a desi rip off of Snickers. They even have the same concept for their ads – hunger turns one into a diva. When I did try it though, I loved it. The concept is really ...
