Pocket Casts...the most pocket friendly podcast app?

Image
When I am ironing my clothes, cleaning my room or doing something that allows me to enjoy listening to something; I tend to listen to podcasts. When AIB had just started, very few of my friends knew of them and I kept going on and on about how they should listen to AIB’s podcasts and everybody would just nod their head and say ‘okay’ and never really listen to them. One day AIB made it to mainstream and the whole world was talking about them and I had already moved on to my next favourite thing – Serial, podcast . No, no, I am not a hipster who abhors mainstream I just tend to discover stuff because I am constantly on the lookout for something new. Have you listened to Neil deGrasse Tyson's voice? Pocket cast is an app that’s available on the Play store for INR 99/- and it is the answer to all my, “ I wish I had something interesting to listen to. ” wishes. Since childhood I have loved being told stories and my mum’s accompanying voice change and background sounds just made them a...

👣 Pacer: Pedometer, Step Counter & Weight Loss Tracker

Image
One and a half years ago I decided I needed a Fitbit but I wasn’t sure if I would stick to the fitness routine I wanted to start. I haven’t been very dedicated where exercise is concerned and hence I was not particularly sure if I should spend a bomb on a gadget that would very well just end up being a very expensive bracelet on my wrist. That’s when I decided to look for an App on Playstore that did pretty much the same thing and that’s how I ended up installing Pacer on my phone. Pacer is a step counter app that does multiple things – for starters, it counts your steps, calories burnt and distance walked/run. Since we always have our phone on us this is as good as a gadget around your wrist and since it is your phone you have the added advantage of listening to an interesting podcast or music of your choice when you run/walk/jog. For my personal settings I have set 16k steps per day that is approximately 10km. I either run or walk 10 kms everyday just so I feel like I have contribu...

Hard Disk Drive - The dead and Alive

Image
We now live in an era of technology. Back in the early 90’s, 1 GB was considered a LOT! Except now even 3TB won’t suffice. Welcome to the age of ‘hoarding’ in the tech era. Like most people I deluded myself and purchased an external HDD for the purposes of ‘work’. I actually use this device to store movies and series. Yup. The other uses for this device are to take a back-up of my laptop, photos, e-books and music. I have used two external HDD’s FreeAgent GoFlex by Seagate and Basic Storage by Western Digital Elements. Listed below are the basic features I look for before purchasing an HDD as I use a Dell Laptop that is currently running on Windows® 10. Specification/Brand Seagate WD Elements Storage 1 Tb 1Tb Hardware Interface USB 2.0 USB 3.0 Compatibility Windows®7, Windows Vista®, Windows® XP (32-bit & 64-64bit) operating system or Mac®oSx10.4.11 or higher; 10.5.8; or 10.6.2 (32 bit kernel only) [Reformatting for mac may be r...

MotoZ2 Play

Image
In our previous post I had mentioned that MotoZ2 Play was one of the phones I was considering buying. I ended up recommending it to my aunt who is now the proud owner of her Lunar grey MotoZ2 Play. The reason why Moto also made it to my list is relatively simple – It had the general specifications I was looking for along with the fact that it was economical. The biggest factor that made me lean towards this though was the expandable memory option. One can expand it up to 2TB!(Originally it has 64 Gb Internal Storage) My aunt’s laptop doesn’t get any more windows updates and they have since stopped updating chrome for older versions of windows. With last year’s scare of attacks on vulnerable systems her laptop hasn’t been connected to the Wi-Fi as there is no security patch. She has a nexus tab which she exclusively uses for games but she wanted a gadget that would allow her ample storage. Hence Moto! My aunt is on the other side of the 50’s but her love for technology and the simple ...

Google Pixel XL - Review

Image
I had been meaning to change my phone for over a year and it was then that this phone had caught my eye – The Google Pixel XL. I had read so much about it. Found that a lot of people that I am surrounded by had no intentions of getting it. Here is the thing, my sole reason for investing in a gadget has to do with the following: ·         Its price should be within a certain range i.e it should not burn a hole in my wallet. ·         It should at least be guaranteed that the product will be receiving software support for a minimum of 3 years. ·         It should have excellent user interface to make life easy and be a tool for communication as well as relaxation. ·         It should have a good camera. ·         Its accessories must be easily available in the market. It’s with the help of this list that I short list...
