When the bottom is the only defense :)

I have a friend whose favorite line during any conversation is “Nin Kundi”.Our conversations or chats are sprinkled with abundant amount of ‘Kundi’ and Nin Kundi’ thrown at each other.

Of-late it has been ‘Kundi Kerko’. If there is a fight and later an apology and if the apology is not accepeted… what do you say? Kundi Kerko.

The whole kundi saga began with a coorgi classmate teaching me the word. ALL her sentences would be interjected with the K word. Apparently the word and its meaning are the same even in Malayalam and Tamil.

In school a Tamilian friend had taught me the phrase ‘Periya Kundi’ and ‘China Kundi’. In college I upgraded from mere phrases to actual sentences. “Kundi le pullu”, Kundi le pamboo” are just a few examples of the way the word can be used while having a friendly [or otherwise] conversation.

“Thura” is yet another disgusting word which is merely an extension of the K word. [Pun Intended] Once during exams a certain channel was airing a movie named Zathura. After watching the movie we just altered the name slightly.

Me: Did you like the movie?

KT: It was definitely za “thura”

Followed by laughter. [Reminder: We saw the movie during exams. There was very little to laugh about.]

Once while playing dumb charades one of my friends gave us the thumbs up to indicate the language of the movie was English. He then went on to split the single word movie into 2 and indicated that he would start with second half of the word. We were all nods. He then gave us thumbs down and pointed at his rump. The answer was unanimous – Gothika!

P.S: This post will not be coming with a translation kit. So for those who don’t get it, apologies because the very essence of this post might get lost in translation :)

P.P.S: The post is dedicated to all my Bum Chums :)
