Road Hogs

Every morning I manage to meet several morons who have no clue about traffic rules. They think it’s alright to drive in the middle of the road, or they drive at 20 kmph when it’s specified that they go at 50kmph and where they are supposed to go at 30 kmph they go at 60 kmph. Apart from driving in the middle of the road they have their hand (in case of a 4 wheeler) or thumb (in case of a two wheeler) constantly honking, which is so god damn irritating especially when there is nobody in front of them to honk at or when there is genuine slow traffic they think honking helps matters. Then there is the “jerk” specie that’s unleashed on the roads, this specimen targets girls, goes at snails pace when he spots a girl and when the girl overtakes he speeds up over takes and then again slows down and then the pattern continues unless the girl chooses to take a different route. Then there are people who over take you from the left and then turn back and give you an angry look in-case you insult their intelligence in overtaking from the left. I will not just blame the men but also women, especially those who are scared to death riding their two wheelers on the road and manage to stall traffic just so that they can cross the road and in some cases these women also manage to go right in the middle of the road and then curse people who over take them from either right or left!

The next category is the worst of its kind; they have their head lights on high beam instead of low beam. That’s why prior to being given a license the test should be taken at night so that the potential license holders are educated about head lights.

Now the whole “Baap ka rastha samajh ke rakha hai kya?” seems so apt and I personally thought I’d be coming up with better stuff than that to say to these road hogs but, sarcasm and wit is lost on them and the age old dialogue drives the point straight into their head only because they must have heard the same a million times in a day.

Then there are the pedestrians who walk at their own speed, they don’t care to look left or right, it doesn’t matter to them that a vehicle is coming right at them they’ll just be walking like they are all alone on the road and there is not a soul around. Early morning, is when you’ll find the worst of the lot, because they have just woken up, they are adjusting their eyes to daylight and are still in their dream world and a harsh horn could break the spell and on being brought to reality makes them vicious because they don’t care that they are alive and not run over they just want more time escaping reality. Oh, footpaths are a myth, you ask a pedestrian to walk on the footpath and you’ll find them enquiring about your mental health. Arghhh…..
