Shrikhand: Kesar – Badam

Image
It’s SUMMER! It’s hot and fruits get spoilt easily, appetites can’t be satiated because the heat is sickening and then there is sweat! The heat is hitting peaks this summer and if this isn’t enough proof for climate change, I don’t know what is! As always I went to buy milk but I got a little lazy and instead of buying it in the morning I brought it in the afternoon and then carried it in a bag till I reached home and of course when it was kept for boil the milk split! I had one and half liters of split milk! The blog apart from being our sanctuary is also now our superhero that makes us think beyond the crisis and own a disaster. I decided to use the split milk to make Shrikhand! Ingredients: 1 and ½ litres worth of split milk. (You can also use 200ml of thick curd) 1 Tbsp curd. (If you are using split milk) 5 Almonds, finely sliced 5 Strands of saffron 7 Tbsp of powdered sugar 4 Cardamom pods finely powdered 1 Tbsp warm milk Notes:        · ...

Hard Disk Drive - The dead and Alive

Image
We now live in an era of technology. Back in the early 90’s, 1 GB was considered a LOT! Except now even 3TB won’t suffice. Welcome to the age of ‘hoarding’ in the tech era. Like most people I deluded myself and purchased an external HDD for the purposes of ‘work’. I actually use this device to store movies and series. Yup. The other uses for this device are to take a back-up of my laptop, photos, e-books and music. I have used two external HDD’s FreeAgent GoFlex by Seagate and Basic Storage by Western Digital Elements. Listed below are the basic features I look for before purchasing an HDD as I use a Dell Laptop that is currently running on Windows® 10. Specification/Brand Seagate WD Elements Storage 1 Tb 1Tb Hardware Interface USB 2.0 USB 3.0 Compatibility Windows®7, Windows Vista®, Windows® XP (32-bit & 64-64bit) operating system or Mac®oSx10.4.11 or higher; 10.5.8; or 10.6.2 (32 bit kernel only) [Reformatting for mac may be r...

Bath and BodyWorks - Haul

Image
The Bath and Bodyworks products have been a constant in my life since high school. I have always loved their lotions. As I grew up I started exploring more of their products – Perfumes, mists, body scrubs, body wash, body butters and hand sanitizers. I have a friend who used to ask me to sit in his car for a ride for about 15 minutes so his car would smell nice and fresh! The thing I like most about their products is the fragrance. You don’t have to use perfumes if you use their butter or lotion. Their perfumes are long-lasting and extremely useful in summers. Their body scrubs are exactly how they describe them – gentle and soothing. My favorites though are the hand sanitizers. That is one thing that I carry with me daily! Last winter I ended up getting a whole bunch of their products and here are my reviews of the same. Hand Sanitizers: I love hand sanitizers. I always carry one in my purse. I have used ‘Midnight Pomegranate’ for years and it has become one of my favorites. I love ho...

Lipstick under my burkha

Image
Image courtesy IMDb  Movie: Lipstick under my burkha Date of Release: 21/07/2017 Duration: 1h57min Director: Alankrita Shrivastava Review The movie begins with the narrator telling us about a girl named Rosy. While we hear about Rosy, we are visually introduced to the 4 protagonists on the screen – the Shop lifter, the Band Baaja Baarat – esque couple, the Sales woman and the Matriarch. These four women form the core of the movie. The shop lifter is a burkha wearing, oppressed teenager who has been accepted into a prestigious college. At home she is the ideal little girl helping out at her parent’s burkha shop but once at college the burkha comes off and she’s in jeans, tees and sneakers. She loves Miley Cyrus and inside her is a little rebel that makes her shop lift sans conscience. The BBB couple has their work divided, the girl runs her own salon and the boy is a photographer. Together they set out to find a job where they both can be hired as a ‘set’ to accompany honeymoon...

8 Year old, gang raped and bludgeoned to death.

Ever since Kathua made headlines it has been upsetting for most Indians because of the heinousness of the crime committed. An 8 year old was kidnapped, drugged, gang raped and then murdered. This happened to a child. A child whose identity we all know now. A child whose religion we all know now. This is all thanks to the pervasive, aggressive, relentless, merciless Media that is fueling the wrong cause to the Nation. Today the media takes on the role of the accuser, the victim and the judge. Every news outlet has  to be the first to report a case, has to be the first to reach the crime scene( As per law, it is supposed to be the cops), has to be the first to identify the victim and make known the victim’s identity(As per law, the victim’s identity in such cases must be kept confidential), has be the first to nab the accused(as per law, it has to be the cops), has to be the first to talk to the victim’s family( as per law, it is supposed to be the cops), has to be the one that finds...
