Simon says - Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise.

Mothers love telling their daughters the 3 step rule to maintain healthy skin – Cleanse, tone and moisturise. I have always skipped the second step. As it happened, I was whining to Lulu about the monthly acne issue and she mentioned using the Biotique Cucumber – Pore Tightening Toner and the Pineapple face cleanser. I immediately went and got these and started using them. After I had finished an entire bottle of both the cleanser and toner I realised that it had certainly helped me. Not so much in completely doing away with acne but at least as means of containing it. I used to have acne on my cheeks and jaw line but it has now considerably reduced and I just arm myself before my cycle with Vicco turmeric (The one without the sandalwood oil) and generously apply it on any bump that appears and let 7 days pass before I feel safe enough to proclaim said alien-being on my face dead.

Now the reason why I have come to love toners is because they actually help over time. Again, please note I have used the Biotique toner for over 5 years now and have done so very religiously. I believe that when you use a product and by the time the product is over, if you see that it has helped you, it is always a good thing to re purchase the same and see if it continues to help you. I don’t like messing with products that are primary in my daily routine. Hence I have stuck with the same 3 products for years now. If you have a concrete base then you have room to experiment with other products.

My Biotique cucumber toner got over last November and I started using the Lass Cucumber mint toner from December. (I received this toner in GlamEgo November 2017 box) Here is one thing I noticed about this toner – it is foamy and a few seconds after you apply it you get that tingly feeling because of the mint and that’s very refreshing. Personally I think this can be best used in summer when your face feels extremely hot. For litigating advocates like Lulu and I, it is mandatory to wash our face after the morning session of courts because of all the running in the sun and sweating. You see we chose a path that doesn’t let us enjoy our days in the confines of an AC room and we aren’t complaining about that but just letting you (readers) know how hectic our lives are on any given day.

So in such cases, I like the tingly feeling on my face. But here is the thing though – I am very loyal to the products that have helped me in the past. I don’t know if I’ll make the switch. But Lass and Biotique, both toners do what they say on their label and for now I am satisfied using Lass.

Price Details:
Biotique – Bio Cucumber is priced at INR 175 for 120 ml.

Lass Naturals – Cucumber mint is priced at INR 195 for 100ml.

We all sigh and wonder if we really need to do all of this for our face, our skin and most importantly our body. So, ladies and gentlemen I leave you with a quote from a movie based on one of my favourite books – I live in the American Gardens Building on W. 81st Street on the 11th floor. My name is Patrick Bateman. I’m 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I’ll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturising protective lotion. – Patrick Bateman in American Psycho.

If HE can do it, so can we!
